If you take one of the flights to New York from Cathay Pacific for a visit, you have a lot of attractions to choose from. The Empire State Building, the Statue of Liberty, Top of the Rock, the Brooklyn Bridge, and more are just a few of the places to check out.
Statue of Liberty
The Statue of Liberty in New York Harbor is a famous landmark. It symbolizes freedom and democracy. It was constructed in the 1880s. A large number of visitors come to see it each year.
Originally called Liberty Enlightening the World, the statue’s design was influenced by the Roman goddess Libertas. It also represents the United States and liberation from slavery.
Bartholdi, a French sculptor, developed the statue’s look and plan. He also built the statue’s head and torch-bearing arm.
Gustave Eiffel was responsible for the framework and the steel. The iron frame weighs about 250,000 pounds, or 125 tons.
To raise funds, auctions, boxing matches and plays were used. Most contributors gave less than $1.
The campaign failed to raise enough money. In 1885, the pedestal was running thin. However, the statue was dedicated in October of that year.
The torch-bearing arm was displayed at various international expositions. Visitors could climb a ladder to the balcony of the Statue of Liberty. This allowed them to see the flame from rooftops and treetops.
It was also exhibited at the Philadelphia Centennial Exposition. When the Arm of Liberty was exhibited, the public was excited.
Both countries faced difficulties in raising money. France was able to pay for the construction. America, on the other hand, needed its own funds to build the pedestal.
Aside from its design, the Statue of Liberty is also considered a symbol of political freedom and a beacon of hope for immigrants. It was the first thing immigrants saw when they arrived in New York.
Empire State Building
Located in Manhattan’s midtown, the Empire State Building is a 102-story Art Deco skyscraper. The building was officially opened on May 1, 1931. It is the tallest structure in New York and the second tallest in the world.
There are plenty of reasons to visit the Empire State Building. For starters, the building has a spectacular observation deck. Visitors can take in views of the city from the observation deck on the 80th floor.
To get the best view, you should consider purchasing an observatory ticket. Tickets cost $31 to $36 for access to the 86th floor observation deck. You can also pay more for a sunset time slot.
Another interesting tidbit about the Empire State Building is that it was the first skyscraper in the city to offer an observation deck. In fact, there are 360 degree views of the city from the building.
While the Empire State Building is a popular tourist attraction, it can get busy. If you’re visiting in peak times, you might want to consider arriving early to avoid the crowds.
The building has a number of exhibits. Most of these exhibits are interactive and offer a look into the history, construction, and popular culture of the building.
There are plenty of places to eat inside the building, including a coffee shop, bar, and lounge. Dining options range from self-service to table service. The best part is that you can eat without a ticket.

Hudson Yards’ new jungle gym
The Hudson Yards redevelopment project is transforming 28 acres of Midtown West. It will eventually include a public school, more than 17 million square feet of commercial space, and thousands of residences.
This area is expected to attract 125,000 people a day. Some of the best features of this development are its residential neighborhoods, including the Equinox branded luxury hotel.
In addition to the hotel, the new neighborhood will also feature many restaurants and shops. These include the TAK room by Thomas Keller, the branch of the British restaurant Queensyard, and Bouchon Bakery.
In addition to the new retail spaces, there will also be a public park with a play structure. The playground will be located in the northernmost section of the new Hudson Yards.
The playground will feature a large jungle gym for children and teens. It will be designed to be able to accommodate 24 to 28 children at a time. There is also a safety zone of 27′ 2″ x 30′ 4. The play structure will have soft synthetic panels, a maze panel, a double wave slide, and an overhead snake ladder.
Aside from the play structure, there will be a teen play space. That area will be open to anyone, but it will be especially suitable for teenagers.
The center of the play structure is a giant climbing dome, reminiscent of old-school metal structures. There are several challenging ropes on the dome’s ceiling.
